Eufaula guard Kambri Williams led the Lady Ironheads with 18 points as she hit shot after shot in an effort to rally back.Roland had unfinished business with Eufaula after Williams hit the game-winning shot to defeat Roland in regional action.Roland led 37-25 at the end of the third period. The Eufaula Lady Ironheads (16-10) saw their season come to an end in the Class 3A Area III consolation semifinals on Friday at Ada High School as Roland edged out Eufaula 44-40. County records will be perma-nently taken care of.“On the second floor are three concrete and steel vaults while on the third floor there is another vault for use by the court clerk and county judge.“Rapid work is now being done on the building and with favorable weather it should be ready for use about April 1.“Within 10 days the brick work should be finished, depending on weather conditions.“On the ground floor will be located the offices of the county agent, sheriff, justice of the peace, county superintendent of schools and secretary of the election board.“Offices on the second floor are those of the county treasurer, county clerk, county assessor, county attorney, county engineer and county. ![]() The McIntosh County Courthouse, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 22, 1985, was built as a result of a bond election on May 11, 1926.By a vote of 5 to 1, according to old newspaper accounts in the 1926 issues of the Eufaula Indian Journal, the county approved a $75,000 bond issue.That money, plus $25,000 the county commissioner had in reserve, paid for the construction of the three-story brick building that has largely withstood the test of time.“We will erect a building that will be a credit to the county and fill a long felt need and make all court and legal records safe from fire and other hazards,” said one story in the IJ.Construction began 20 years after statehood in 1907 and about 22 years after the end of the infamous McIntosh County Seat War (1907-1909) which pitted Eufaula and Checotah against each other over which town would be the county seat.Eufaula eventually won, but not without a bitter fight.As plans were released, officials said in early 1927 that the concrete and steel reinforced brick building “will serve the people for all time.”It would be trimmed in Bedford stone and built of an “old style brick” and “will be the most imposing building of which McIntosh County will be proud.”The windows and doors will be of plate glass, while the window sashes are constructed of steel, the IJ reported in early 1927.“Large steam pipe tunnels are a feature of the new building: small steam and water leaks can easily be located and repaired in these tunnels without damage to the building.“Drinking fountains in the hallways on each floor will provide water for both the public and county employees.
